Cookie Policy

This page is maintained by The Music Standard as platform template policy. It is not a substitute for legal advice - final compliance language should be reviewed by qualified counsel before public launch.

What cookies are

Cookies are small data files placed on your device that help websites function, remember preferences, and measure performance. TMS also uses similar technologies such as localStorage and session tokens.

Categories we use

  • Strictly Necessary - login, security, RLS context, form submissions. Always on.
  • Functional - UI preferences, sidebar state, dismissed banners.
  • Analytics - placeholder; not loaded until you grant consent.
  • Marketing / Retargeting - placeholder; not loaded until you grant consent.
  • Personalization - recommendations, onboarding tasks.

Third-party tools (placeholder)

If we add analytics or marketing tools in the future (for example product analytics, ad pixels, or session replay), they will only load after you grant the matching category of consent. We will list them here when activated.

How to manage your preferences

  • Open the from the footer link or your account privacy page.
  • Clear cookies in your browser settings - most browsers offer per-site controls.
  • Manage your privacy choices in /account/privacy when signed in.

How your consent is stored

Your choice and consent version are stored on your device. When you are signed in, we also record the choice in our audited cookie_consents table so we can honor it across sessions.

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

TMS detects the GPC browser signal. When GPC is on, sale, sharing, and targeting categories default to off.
