Terms of Service
This page is maintained by The Music Standard as platform template policy. It is not a substitute for legal advice - final compliance language should be reviewed by qualified counsel before public launch.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or have legal guardian consent) and must own or control the rights to any music or content you upload. By using The Music Standard ("TMS"), you represent you have authority to bind any entity you act on behalf of.
2. Account responsibilities
You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure, for activity under your account, and for the accuracy of information you provide.
3. Beta and private access
TMS is currently in private beta. Features may change, be removed, or be operated manually by our team during this period. Data may be sandboxed, and some integrations are placeholders.
4. Platform services
- Distribution tools that prepare and route releases to digital service providers (DSPs).
- Royalty visibility, payout, agreement and campaign workflows - some are placeholders during beta.
- Educational content via the Academy.
5. DSP delivery disclaimer
TMS prepares releases for delivery to DSPs but does not guarantee acceptance, timing, placement, monetization or chart performance. Each DSP makes its own approval and editorial decisions.
6. User-uploaded content
- You retain ownership of your master recordings, artwork, videos, and metadata.
- You grant TMS a limited license to host, process, transcode, deliver and display your content solely to operate the service.
- You are solely responsible for confirming rights, clearances, samples, covers, featured artists, producers, and contributors.
7. Prohibited content and conduct
See our Acceptable Use Policy. Examples include copyright infringement, fraudulent streaming, impersonation, harassment, malware, and abuse of takedown systems.
8. Copyright
We respect intellectual property. See our DMCA / Copyright Policy and submit reports at /copyright-report.
9. Takedowns, updates and corrections
Artists may request takedowns or updates via in-app workflows. Processing times depend on each DSP. TMS may also remove or withhold delivery of content that violates these terms.
10. Royalties and payouts (placeholder)
Royalty figures shown during beta may be demo or placeholder data. Real payouts require DSP report ingestion, identity/tax verification and a connected payment provider. See the Royalty Policy.
11. Campaign services
Marketing campaigns are subject to the Campaign Services Terms. Campaigns never guarantee streams, followers, charting, or virality.
12. Deal Review
Deal Review is business and document review support only - not legal, tax, or financial advice. See the Deal Review Disclaimer.
13. Academy
The Academy is educational only and is not legal, tax, or financial advice. See the Academy Disclaimer.
14. Fees and payments (placeholder)
Plan pricing and commissions are shown on the Pricing page. Specific fee schedules and payment-provider integrations are placeholders during beta.
15. Refunds and cancellation
See the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
16. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, infringe third-party rights, or pose risk to the platform. You may cancel at any time, subject to ongoing obligations.
17. Limitation of liability (placeholder)
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TMS is provided "as-is" and we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages. Final language to be reviewed by counsel.
18. Dispute resolution (placeholder)
Governing law, venue and dispute mechanism will be finalized with counsel before public launch.
